So, Apex Legends just got released on mobile platform; namely Apex Legends Mobile. A highly anticipated game finally out for beta testing. Creators are now filling up their content with Apex Legends. The Company Behind
Respawn Entertainment, LLC, is an American video game development studio founded by Jason West and Vince Zampella. West and Zampella previously co-founded Infinity Ward and created the Call of Duty franchise, where they were responsible for its development until 2010. The studio created the Titanfall series, as well as the free-to-play battle royale game Apex Legends. Respawn was acquired by Electronic Arts on December 1, 2017, and developed Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which was released in November 2019. The studio developed Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond, released on December 11, 2020, for which it became the first video game developer to receive an Academy Award nomination. Because of the love given to Apex Legends on PC, Respawn studios decided to release it on mobile platform. Hence, it is developed by a dedicated team at Respawn filled with experts in mobile game development, but it’s a collaborative effort with the established Apex Legends team and other partners.
Features
Well, what does this game feature as such?
It features an action-packed fast-paced battle royale environment with players jumping and running around, trying to kill you and you trying to kill them. If you like playing fast-paced games with players jumping around, then this game is just made for you. With various characters or legends to choose from and a variety of guns to try out, this game will hook you up for hours. Grinding will be required for unlocking the legends. An interesting thing is that each and every legend has its set of animation ranging from its running style to holding guns and performing random actions while inactive. For those who want to download the game but did not pre-register will have to wait for its official release while being tested as closed beta.
Gameplay
The most interesting part of the blog, so let’s get straight into it.
Launching Screen- Nothing too much to say, but the launching screen looks similar to that of PUBG Mobile or Call Of Duty Mobile, with some artifacts on the screen. Logging into the account is hassle-free and very smooth.
Main Menu- This game has the most interesting main menu screen players could ever get to experience on their mobile devices. The legend which they choose has its set animations which will be displayed at regular intervals. This is something that is not seen in any other MMO game (like PUBG Mobile and Call Of Duty Mobile). The UI is good enough and not janky and everything works smooth and fine.
Gameplay- While the first looks are good enough to impress anyone, the gameplay may disappoint the players.
When you tap play, it will ask you whether to play in FPP or TPP. After selecting that, you will be asked to pick up a legend of your choice. Then, the match will start after gathering 60 players in total. Your legend will be seated in an aircraft and after the timer finishes the countdown you are then allowed to jump off the aircraft and get right into the action.
You then search for loot and weapons to prepare yourself for the battle. As mentioned earlier, there are many types of guns, each with its characteristics. You will be appeased in listening to the gun sounds. Killing enemies is satisfying as heck. After killing the last enemy, you will be welcomed with the message “You Are The Champion”.
Animations- Now, let’s talk a bit about its animations.
This has the same animations found in the PC version. If we talk about running, then the legend has its own style. Even holding a gun too is different for each character. The animations of reloading a gun, applying meds, refueling the shield, throwing different types of grenades, sliding and reviving your teammates are all the same. This impresses me that Respawn studio was able to put all this on the mobile port. Even the smallest of the details, like showing the number of bullets in your gun with different colors at different values, is just mind-blowing. The respective animations of the legends while using their abilities is too awesome for me to handle XD.
The Pros
-Good, fun and addictive game.
-Has a variety of guns and legends to play with.
-Fast-paced for a quick adrenaline rush.
-Easy to learn, hard to master.
-Good detailed environment for exploration.
The Cons
-Game is in beta and is available only on android devices. Later, will be released on iOS.
-High ping issues.
-Bad controls (for now atleast).
-Optimization not up to the mark. Not running at full 60 FPS, even on the powerful of devices.
-Very glitchy.
My personal opinions
I did personally wait for its release from the day it was announced. The wait for this game turned out to be fruitful for me. The game delivered everything as I expected. Though, some kind of polishing is required but other than that the game is perfect. Let me know your thoughts!
