INTRODUCTION

In the previous article, we have talked about the storyline of Grand Theft Auto’s 3D Universe. Today I will be talking about Grand Theft Auto’s HD Universe and 2D Universe, and also why 3D Universe characters cannot return to the HD Universe, which is very sad. Many people might think this ‘Multi-Verse’ thing is just a theory; it is not. Rockstar Games confirmed it is true.

2D UNIVERSE

The 2D Universe contains Grand Theft Auto 1, the first game of its universe, and Grand Theft Auto 2. There isn’t much to say about the 2D Universe. It is called 2D because it is played from a vert-side view. There is not really much to be discussed in GTA 1 because it was the first game, and there weren’t any controversies around it. However, in GTA2, many people confused Claude Speed from Grand Theft Auto 2 (protagonist) as Claude in Grand Theft Auto 3. Now Rockstar has neither confirmed nor denied this. My explanation for Rockstar not coming out and just saying that they both have the same name is because they want people’s minds to wander around it, just like they did in Grand Theft Auto San Andreas with the “Big Foot” theory. Until after years after they said that there is no Big Foot.

WHAT ARE UNIVERSE BARRIERS?

Many people have trouble understanding these universe barriers and why people from 3D Universe or 2D Universe do not exist and are not seen in the HD Universe. So in the 3D Universe, we have Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Liberty City Stories, and Vice City Stories, Characters from the Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and San Andreas can appear in Vice City Stories or Liberty City Stories because they all exist in the same universe. For example, Claude from Grand Theft Auto 3 appears in San Andreas, Ken Rosenberg from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City appears in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas because they all exist in the same world.  They cannot appear or exist in the HD Universe because, in the HD Universe, the events of the 3D Universe never happened. It’s just a totally new world where there were never any events from the 3D Universe that happened. This is vice versa for the games in the HD Universe.  However, there are some subliminal messages and easter eggs related to these characters from the 3D Universe. With that said, hopefully, I cleared all the confusion regarding the universes.

EASTER EGGS AND REFERENCES OF 3D UNIVERSE CHARACTERS

Madd Dogg, one of the main characters in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, is talked about a lot in Grand Theft Auto 5, about his music and him. For example, there is a poster of Madd Dogg, most probably advertising his music placed randomly in houses. There is actually another easter egg where we see Ryder, Big Smoke, Sweet, and CJ from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in the mission Hood Safari riding cycles and driving towards Groove Street, referring to the first mission of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, Let me remind you guys that these characters are not the real characters from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas just because of the Universe Barriers,  this is just a little easter egg that Rockstar has thrown into the game, If we exclude the Universe Barriers, it is still not possible because Ryder Wilson and Big Smoke are dead at the end of the game.
Another famous theory says that Franklins Aunt from Grand Theft Auto 5 is the same person who dated CJ in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas; again, this is impossible.

Lastly, we have a very famous easter egg that features CJ from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, on a book cover in Lesters House , so that’s another clever example of 3D Universe characters being referenced in the HD Universe. So this proves that the characters can be indirectly or directly referenced but never appear physically.

STORY-LINE (HD UNIVERSE)

Buckle up because we have a lot to cover and the storyline is pretty long!

Grand Theft Auto 5 (2004 Prologue)

The story briefly begins in 2004, in the city of Ludendorff, North Yankton. There are three men named Micheal Townley, Trevor Phillips, and Bradd Sniper robbing a Bobcat money storage facility. Micheal and Trevor blow open the vault and steal the cash, and the trio escapes the facility while being flocked by the local police enforcement. Finally, they reach the getaway driver’s vehicle, but the pursuing police shoot the driver. Micheal manages to take the wheel but crashes into a nearby tree because he is forced to cross a moving train. They manage to get away on foot, but an FBI Officer shoots Brad in the head, causing him to die. He also shoots Micheal in the leg, causing him to fall.  After a short battle with the police and Trevor, Micheal convinces Trevor to abandon him and save himself. Hours later, at a nearby cemetery, A funeral is held for Micheal, with the FBI Officer shot him in attendance. However, Micheal secretly watches his own funeral,  having a deal with the Officer to fake his own death in his hands to restart his career in exchange.

Grand Theft Auto 4 (2008)

Here we will not cover the other games of Grand Theft  Auto 4 because it is too long. However, if we get a good response on this, I will make a full article containing A to Z information of the HD Universe of Grand Theft Auto.

In 2008 we meet Niko Belic, who is coming to America by sea, seeking a new life, avoiding his former employee, and finding a fellow soldier who double-crossed his squad ten years ago, Niko meets his cousin Roman in Liberty City. after getting a little familiar with the city, Niko finds his cousin overselling his lifestyle. Even though he starts working with Roman for his Taxi Service, Eventually, he meets Roman’s Girlfriend Mallorie, who introduces Niko to Michelle, whom he begins to date. Niko starts to make contacts within Liberty City’s crime head. First, he works for Little Jacob, who is the head of the Jamaican Mafia. He makes a friendship with Little Jacob. Shortly after, he begins to work with Vladimir Glebov, a mafia head under mafia head boss Mikhail, who tells Niko to kill Ivan. At this point, the game gives a choice to Niko to either kill or spare Ivan; either way, shortly after, Vladimir reveals that he has been sleeping with Romans Girlfriend Mallory, which angers him to kill him.

I will be ending this GTA: IV topic here. GTA: Chinatown Wars and  GTA  IV: Chapters are very long, and I would like to divide them into separate articles if we get a good response on this one!  Moving on to Grand Theft Auto 5!

Grand Theft Auto 5 (2013)

In 2013, We met Franklin, who lives in Los Santos, San Andreas. Franklin and his friend Lamar Davis work for Simeon as repossession agents who take cars back after the owners make a default purchase. Franklin is sent to repossess a  car from the owner called Jimmy De Santa, who happens to be the son of  Micheal Townley, who is known as Micheal De Santa, after he started his new life. Franklin must sneak into Micheals’s house and steal Jimmy’s car while driving back to the base. Franklins is brought to gunpoint by Micheal sitting in the back seat. He tells him to run the car through the glass of Simeon’s company store. Shortly, Micheal and Franklin quickly become friends. Franklin catches the Yoga Teacher having an affair with Micheals’s Wife. Franklin and Micheal pull down a big house of the Yoga Teacher. A few days later, they realize that a Yoga Teacher can’t have that big house. It was the house of a huge drug dealer who demands Micheal and Franklin for the money, which causes them to rob a jewelry store. After that, We see that Trevor is still alive. He looks at the news where it’s told that a Jewelry store has been robbed in Los Santos. Trevor quickly realizes that this is the doing of  Micheal due to his old techniques. He sends his friend to find Micheal in Los Santos, Trevor finds Micheal in Los Santos, and they quickly start working together. They do a lot of works together and do a Bank Robbery, which gives them 200 million dollars.

After that, Trevor and Micheal dig up the grave of Micheal and find Brad’s body. Trevor is furious about this after this mission. Shortly after, he is approached by Norton, telling him to kill Trevor and Micheal because of their own separate reasons. Now Franklin has a  choice to kill Micheal,  Trevor or save them both.

I hope that I’ve managed to clear up some of the confusion between the 3D and HD/2D worlds in Grand Theft Auto. Keep a look out for more in-depth articles to come!
